I am loving being with my Bath friends in a new Pop-Up Gallery from now until Xmas.  For those who don't know it, Frome has a really lively arts and vintage scene, fab shops and gallery and the truly wonderful Frome Artisan Market - more about that here - http://www.stcatherinesfrome.co.uk/artisan-market/

Our gallery in at 6 Stoney Street on the way up to St Catherine's Hill - do call in and say hello.  I have been making brooches - a completely new thing for me - just need to see if all the lovely people who buy my other work will like these too!

There are some brooches, boxes, hearts and other things in the new Vintage Quarter at Wilton Shopping Village, Near Salisbury.  Do call in - there are lots of other vintage, arts and antiques sellers, including Peta, whose blog shows some pictures of the lovely building housing the Vintage Quarter http://www.vintage57.com/#/blog/4563326153.  Do do along - it is well worth a look. Lynn is the brains behind this and you can find out more on her website http://vintagequarter.com/.

Brooklyn Flea Market

It has been a busy Summer - as well as the commission for Phil and Sarah (pictured here), I've mosaiced a mermaid for Nik and made a piece as a wedding present.
So it was great to get off to the US for a couple of weeks holiday in September.  Spent a lovely week in New York and went to check out the Brooklyn Flea Market on Saturday.  It was a beautiful warm and summer day and fortified by amazing bagels from The Bagel Store on the way up from the subway, we spent hours sorting through the mix of vintage, antique and art stalls.  I bought 100 yeas old letter print blocks, which will be appearing on the top of mirrors, crystals from chandeliers and antlers!  I have a plan for these, but I'm not quite ready to share it......

Just as well the weather has not been great as I'm having a busy summer.  As well as the opportunity to exhibit work in the Bath Pop-Up Gallery where lovely people have come and bought a number of pieces, I've been working hard to complete a very interesting commission for Sarah and Phil.  They have been lovely clients and I'm really looking forward to showing them the completed work - but just a bit nervous too - I hope they are as pleased as I am with how it has turned out.  No pictures yet and they haven't seen it and I don't want to spoil the surprise, but watch this spot!

It is lovely to be back in the Bath Pop-Up Gallery with all the great artists and makers from last time; plus some new people.  We have a fantastic new venue, with lots more room and are sharing the building with some other groups so there is lots to see.  Do come and see me and Miss Bunny if you are in Bath. www.bathpopupgallery.co.uk/

I found a lovely load of commemorative china at the Giant Flea Market in Shepton Mallet in January.  There were three boxes full and it was great fun unpacking it - I discovered I had bought all sorts of wonderful things - it was almost like Christmas all over again.  Some is far too good to break and I will sell on (apart from the things I am going to keep of course!  It's fabulous to have so much to work with.
Inspired by this, and some wonderful Mexican glass tiles I am buying from the Mosaic Workshop (www.mosaic-workshop.co.uk), I am currently working on a 'monochrome' version of the 1st Class mosaics you can see on the PICTURES section of the site, in blue and white.
These tiles are opaque and slightly swirly and come in wonderful colours.  I used them on the large Art Deco style box which is also on the site and still for sale.  It was originally a cutlery box and could be used to store all manner of things.  It would make a lovely big jewellery box; or a store for greetings cards - if you buy them as obsessively as I do!  Anyway do take a look.

Thanks to the lovely people who visited the Pop-Up Gallery in Bath, most of my work has sold and I now just have a few larger pieces available.  Please contact me if you would like to know more about these - I can make the 1st Class mosaics with any colour background to order.  I will be working hard in the New Year to produce some more work and will add pictures to the site as work is completed.  If you would like me to let you know when I have new work; or of dats when I'll be at shows and fairs in 2012, please let me know via the contact form and I'll add you to my mailing list.

Great news!  My work is now available in the Xmas Pop-Up Gallery in Lower Borough Walls in Bath.  This is just a couple of minutes from Marks and Spencers, so do go along for a look if you are shopping in Bath.  As well as my mosaics, there is a range of brilliant work from other artists, including ceramics, jewellery, textiles and metal work; and some amazing beaded and woven work from South Africa.  Come in and say hi to the various artists and makers who are staffing the gallery on a rota basis and who would love to talk to you about their work.

Thanks to all the lovely people who visited my stand at the Bath Vintage and Antiques Fair last Sunday and said such encouraging things about my work.  It was my first public outing and I had been very nervous.  Thanks especially to Willa Ashworth (who makes fabulous ironwork which she sells at the fair and elsewhere).  It was brilliant to have such positive feedback - I swapped a mosaic for a bunch of her lovely ironwork daffodils!
